自然指數(shù)（Nature Index）是依托于全球頂級期刊（2014年11月開始選定68種，2018年6月改為82種，2023年新增健康科學領域期刊，總計145種期刊），統(tǒng)計各高校、科研院所（國家/地區(qū)）在國際上最具影響力的研究型學術期刊上發(fā)表論文數(shù)量的數(shù)據(jù)庫。按照學科分類主要包括生命科學（Biological sciences）、化學（Chemistry）、地球與環(huán)境科學（Earth & environmental sciences）、健康科學（Health sciences）以及物理科學（Physical sciences）。

自然指數(shù)已發(fā)展成為國際公認的、能夠衡量機構(gòu)、國家和地區(qū)在自然科學領域的高質(zhì)量研究產(chǎn)出與合作情況的重要指標，在全球范圍內(nèi)有很大影響力。
