大家都會有生病的時候，

每當(dāng)此時，除了 "I'm sick." 之外，

還有很多慣用語的表達(dá)，

一起來學(xué)這些表達(dá)讓英語說得更地道吧！

as fit as a fiddle 非常健康

fit 表示 "健康的" 意思，而 fiddle 則是指 "小提琴" ，

as fit as a fiddle 表示非常健康，

就像一把狀況良好的小提琴，隨時可以拉出動人的旋律。

【例句】

My grandmother is eighty years old, but she is still as fit as a fiddle.

我的祖母八十歲了，但她還是非常健康。

the picture of (good) health 看起來非常健康

當(dāng)我們說某人 is the picture of (good) health 其實(shí)就是形容看起來非常健康、狀態(tài)非常好。

【例句】

The doctor told Jim that he is a picture of good health, and he ran to the basketball court happily.

醫(yī)生告訴 Jim 他看起來非常健康、狀態(tài)很好，他很高興的就跑去藍(lán)球場了。

under the weather 身體不舒服

under the weather 可不能解釋成 "在天氣之下" ，

它的意思其實(shí)是形容人身體微恙、生病不舒服，

也會被用來形容酒醉后的不適。

【例句】

Emma was a little under the weather, so she decided to stay home today.

Emma 身體有點(diǎn)不舒服，所以她決定今天在家休息。

look / feel like death warmed up 看起來 / 感覺病得很重

like death warmed up 是形容人臨死前病入膏肓、非常難受的狀況，

因此 look / feel like death warmed up 就是指人病得很重、非常不舒服的意思。

【例句】

I'm feeling like death warmed up.

我感覺我現(xiàn)在病得不輕、非常難受。

a frog in one’s throat 聲音沙啞說不出話

a frog in one's throat 照字面上翻譯就是 "有一只青蛙在喉嚨里" ，

這個慣用語是用來形容人聲音沙啞說不出話，就像有青蛙在喉嚨里一樣。

【例句】

After talking for more than 3 hours, she had a frog in her throat.

在她講了超過 3 小時的話后，她感覺聲音已經(jīng)沙啞到說不出話來了。

go under the knife 開刀、接受手術(shù)

go under the knife：到刀子下面，

其實(shí)非常直觀，就是 "動手術(shù)" 的意思，

如果要補(bǔ)充開刀的部位則用 on 來做連接。

【例句】

It's common these days to hear people go under the knife to improve their appearance.

現(xiàn)今聽到人們透過手術(shù)整容來改變?nèi)菝惨呀?jīng)是非常普遍的事了。

on one’s last legs 奄奄一息

on one's last legs 是用來形容人奄奄一息、行將就木，

也可以用來指公司瀕臨破產(chǎn)或物品將要被報(bào)廢。

【例句】

My computer is on its last legs

我的電腦快要報(bào)廢了。

a clean bill of health 身體健康證明、報(bào)告

a clean bill of health 在醫(yī)療方面指的是醫(yī)生開立的身體健康證明或身體健康報(bào)告，

另一方面也可以表示公司營運(yùn)狀況（如規(guī)章制度、安排等）良好的合格證明、安全證明。

【例句】

I was given a clean bill of health, and I will go back to school next week.

收到醫(yī)生開立的健康證明，我下周就會回學(xué)校上課了。

take a turn for the better 情況好轉(zhuǎn)

turn 有轉(zhuǎn)變的意思，所以 take a turn for the better 就是指情況正在好轉(zhuǎn)，

而 take a turn for the worse 則是情況變差的意思。

【例句】

Mom cried tears of joy when she knew that our grandmother took a turn for the better.

媽媽知道奶奶的病情好轉(zhuǎn)后便喜極而泣。

on the mend （病后）逐漸康復(fù)

mend 有痊愈、好轉(zhuǎn)之意，

因此某人 is on the mend 就是指一個人尚未完全痊愈，

但已經(jīng)在逐漸康復(fù)的意思。

【例句】

Tina's been ill with the flu, but now she's on the mend.

Tina 得了流感，但她已經(jīng)在逐漸康復(fù)了。
